Marine infrastructure delivered around an active waterfront community.
Tthe Dobroyd Point project extended and upgraded the existing seawall while improving public access to Haberfield’s popular Bay Run. The works were divided into two stages to minimise disruption across the extensive waterfront site.
EBG constructed approximately 244 lineal metres of seawall across both stages, incorporating more than 1,500 tonnes of ballast and sandstone armour rock. The works also included sandstone steps, a new lookout, stormwater extensions, a saltmarsh planter and soft landscaping with timber edging.
During Stage 1, EBG identified that the existing seabed was softer than anticipated and unable to support the original design. Drawing on extensive marine construction experience, EBG worked with Council and the project engineers to value-engineer an alternative seawall solution suited to the conditions.
Construction required temporary machinery platforms beside the waterway, with toe excavation and rock placement programmed around low tides. A weekday detour through the adjacent car park maintained access for pedestrians and cyclists, while normal Bay Run access was reinstated each weekend. Despite the restricted working windows and complex public interface, the project was completed on time.
